LT (low-tension / low-voltage) transformers and inductors are line-frequency magnetic components built for power, isolation, step-up/step-down and auto-transformer duty on low-voltage systems, offered for 50 Hz, 60 Hz and 400 Hz operation. The 400 Hz option is notable: aircraft, marine, military and ground-power-unit systems run at 400 Hz, which allows smaller, lighter cores than 50/60 Hz for the same rating, and ACE supporting all three frequencies signals capability across industrial, export (60 Hz markets) and aerospace/defence ground-power applications. These are typically dry-type units (open/ventilated, resin-encapsulated or VPI) with copper or aluminium windings, made to the customer's voltage, vector group and rating. The companion inductors/reactors are wound on gapped or ungapped cores for filtering, smoothing or current limiting. A buyer specifies a custom LT transformer when standard distribution units do not match their voltage combination, frequency, taps, enclosure or duty.
