Overview

The ACE Line Choke is ACE's series line/AC choke for limiting current and mitigating harmonics on the supply side of non-linear loads and capacitor banks. The rising use of modern electronics raises harmonic current demand (THDi), which raises supply voltage distortion (THDv); this distortion can resonate with shunt PFC capacitors and cause harmonic amplification, capacitor/transformer/line overloading, voltage distortion and interference with metering and controls. The line choke is connected in series to add inductive reactance that smooths current rise, attenuates harmonic and switching components, and protects downstream capacitors and equipment. ACE builds these as dry-type, naturally-cooled, H-class wound reactors on laminated cores, rated to the line/load current with impedance or inductance specified per the application.
